Position Title: Biomedical Engineer

About Spectral MD, Inc.

 

Spectral MD, a mid-stage medical device company, is developing a diagnostic imaging system to support treatment decisions by healthcare professionals in the wound care market, especially burns and chronic wounds. We focus on the combination of AI and machine learning techniques with digital images to meet the needs of our clinician customers in wound management.

Position Overview:

The candidate should have detailed knowledge of and hands-on experience in at least one of the following, ideally with medical imaging experience: (1) Design and Design Controls, (2) Development and GDP, (3) Testing and Quality Assurance, (4) Risk and Hazard Analysis, and (5) Manufacturing and GMP.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will assist in all aspects of design, development, testing, manufacturing, and support of a medical imaging device. This will include requirements development, component design, documentation, component and system level test and debugging, and preventative maintenance. The candidate must have excellent oral and written skills and work effectively as a team member.

  • Serve as a key member of a cross-functional project team (internal and external) consisting of Optical-Imaging, electrical, and mechanical engineers to achieve project deliverables. 

  • Work closely with quality engineers to ensure compliance with Spectral MD quality procedures and follow good documentation practices. 

  • Perform off-site preventative maintenance on devices. 

  • Assist in identifying and documenting system hazards, failure modes, and risk mitigations. 

  • Assist in the design and conduct system level and component level engineering verification and validation testing. 

  • Work with subsystem teams, domain subject matter experts, and suppliers in the assessment, selection, integration, and qualification of key components. 

  • Support the preparation of proposals, project plans and estimates. 

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, or an advanced degree preferred, in Biomedical Engineering or related field. 

  • Exposure/experience in medical devices and medical device development. 

  • Exposure/experience in engineering calibration and preventative maintenance. 

  • Highly detail-oriented, excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, highly motivated team player adept at cross-functional interaction. 

  • The Position will be based in Dallas TX and may require up to 50% domestic travel.
